Marking a Milestone
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Long & Foster looked to honor its history, spotlight the agents who helped build the company’s legacy, and reinforce its continued evolution as a market leader. As a company rooted in strong family values and client-first service, Long & Foster needed a commemorative publication that captured its past, celebrated its people, and looked confidently toward the future.

Washingtonian Custom Media partnered with Long & Foster to create a custom bookazine—a high-end blend of editorial storytelling and sleek design—that reflected the company’s core identity while highlighting its forward momentum.

Editorial and Photography in Tandem
Working closely with the Long & Foster team, WCM’s editors and designers developed a polished, engaging publication built around three central pillars: the company’s business evolution, its service-driven culture, and its deep connection to agents and clients. Our writers crafted a consistent narrative voice and wove a cohesive storyline that reflected Long & Foster’s growth and values.

To bring authenticity and personality to the piece, we professionally edited a series of first-person agent profiles—ensuring their voices remained distinct while aligning with the overall editorial tone. Visually, we designed the bookazine using Long & Foster’s signature brand colors and classic fonts, delivering a timeless aesthetic that felt both familiar and modern.
Our creative team also led archival research to source historical photos that visually documented key milestones in the company’s five-decade journey. In addition to curating and editing vintage imagery, WCM conducted new photo shoots to bring the project full circle. Most notably, we were welcomed into co-founder Wes Foster’s home where our photographer set up a studio for a portrait session, capturing his legacy with a cover-worthy image to anchor the publication. The final cover photo, selected in collaboration with the Long & Foster team, perfectly conveyed the organization’s spirit and set the tone for the stories within.
